ISLAMABAD, June 16 (Diplomatic Star): The UK government has appointed Jane Marriott as the new British High Commissioner for Pakistan.
Jane Marriott will be the first female British High Commissioner to Pakistan, taking up her duties in mid-July.
In a message on social media, Jain said that the appointment of the High Commissioner to Pakistan is “delighted, Pakistan-UK relations will be stronger in the future, Pakistan and England are linked by heritage, strong people-to-people ties, climate cooperation and growing trade.”
He wrote that friendship and commonwealth ties can ensure a prosperous future.
Jain also wrote an Urdu sentence on his Twitter saying ‘See you soon’.
Jane Marriott has been serving as High Commissioner to Kenya since September 2019.
Who was the previous British High Commissioner in Pakistan?
Earlier, Christian Turner was serving as the British High Commissioner to Pakistan from December 2019.
He stepped down after completing his tenure.
Christian Turner has been appointed Director-General Geopolitical at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in London.
