ISLAMABAD, Apr 22 (Diplomatic Star): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said Pakistan is keen to deepen its ties with Rwanda, especially in trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, expressing satisfaction over the positive momentum in bilateral relations.
During a meeting with Rwandan Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Olivier J.P. Nduhungirehe, who is currently on an official visit to Pakistan, the prime minister warmly welcomed the dignitary and extended greetings to Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente.
Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Rwanda on opening its resident diplomatic Mission in Islamabad, calling it a milestone that would help boost business-to-business (B2B) interaction and increase bilateral trade volumes. He also invited President Kagame to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
Ambassador Nduhungirehe expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed Rwanda’s interest in expanding economic cooperation with Pakistan. He noted that a Rwandan business delegation accompanying him had already participated in a trade event in Lahore to explore commercial opportunities.
Both sides also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation at the multilateral level, particularly at the United Nations.
Pakistan and Rwanda maintain friendly relations based on mutual trust, shared values, and active cooperation at global forums.
