USAID to ensure quality education in Sindh under SPEP

ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, March 16, Diplomatic Star (DS): The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Sindh government are working together to ensure  quality education for all in the province.

The Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP) is an integrated program towards modernizing education system in Sindh.

The USAID is implement this project with an aims to improve quality and access to basic education for children in Sindh by increasing and sustaining student enrollment at primary, middle and secondary levels.

The USAID is contributing $159 million to the program while the government of Sindh, Education and Literacy Department, adding $10 million contribution.

The project is constructing 106 state-of-the-art schools in 10 districts – Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana, Dadu, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Kamber Shahdadkot, Karachi South, Karachi West and Malir districts.

The program has made much progress and have handed over these public schools to reputable educational institutes such as Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Beconhouse, Charter for Compassion (CFC), Indus Resource Centre (IRC), Health and Nutrition Development Society (HANDS), Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) and The Citizen Foundation (TCF) etcetera, under government’s policy of public private partnership.

In order to showcase what has been done under this project, the media persons are being invited from the federal capital to analyze the performance of the project.
