Jakarta, Oct 5 (Diplomatic Star) – The International Creatives Exchange (ICE) and the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at boosting tourism between Indonesia and Pakistan.
The signing ceremony took place at Al Barkat Palace, South Jakarta.
Atta Ul Karim, Chairman of ICE, expressed his gratitude and commitment to enhancing tourism ties between the two countries, noting his personal connection to both Indonesia and Pakistan. “I was born in Pakistan but grew up and found success in Indonesia.
I want to give back by promoting tourism between these two brotherly nations,” said Atta, who donned a golden-brown batik for the occasion.
Mrs. Rusmiati, President of ASITA, emphasized the untapped potential of Pakistan’s tourism, comparing its natural beauty to Switzerland and New Zealand.
“Pakistan and Indonesia share strong similarities as the two largest Muslim countries, making this partnership a perfect fit,” she added.
The MoU, consisting of 11 points, outlines a framework for cooperation to improve tourism exchanges. Witnessing the signing were Mrs. Siti Nur Azizah, daughter of the Indonesian Vice President, and Rahmat Hindiarta Kusuma, Chargé d’Affaires at the Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad.
Both expressed optimism that the agreement would strengthen bilateral ties and potentially lead to direct flights between the two nations, addressing a major challenge in boosting tourism.
