ISLAMABAD, June 29, Diplomatic Star (DS): Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani banned eight members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for causing a commotion in the meeting.

The Speaker said in his order that during the sitting of the House on June 28, members of the Provincial Assembly Saeed Ahmed, Rabistan Khan, Arsalan Taj Hussain, Muhammad Ali Aziz, Adeel Ahmed, Shah Nawaz Jadoon, Bilal Ahmed and Raja Azhar Khan convened the Sindh Assembly. Disrespect and damage parliamentary traditions.

Agha Siraj Durrani barred the said members from attending the current session under Rules 233 and 257 of the House Procedure.

It is to be noted that the Sindh Assembly session was marred by commotion yesterday and opposition members, especially members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had protested in the House against their leader’s refusal to address the House.

The commotion in the provincial assembly erupted when opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh tried to deliver his first speech at the start of the proceedings, but Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani refused to allow it, saying he had already discussed scheduled issues. Will go and members will be allowed to discuss their points later.

Opposition members protested against the speaker, chanting slogans in the house, and some of the protesters brought a “folding bed” and tried to place it in front of the speaker’s rostrum, calling it a “symbolic funeral of democracy.” ۔

Opposition members chanted slogans as they tried to move the bed towards the speaker’s dice, saying “democracy is a funeral”. After a few minutes of struggle, the sergeant managed to stop them.

The Speaker expressed displeasure over the opposition’s move, calling it an “insult” to the House.

Later, PTI’s Haleem Adil Sheikh presented a resolution in the assembly in which it was complained that opposition members were being barred from speaking in the house and preventing members from speaking was a violation of assembly rules.
